Taste of Pearl

tasteofpearllogo.jpg

Boulder has been rated America's "foodiest" town by Bon Appetit magazine and boasts the "world's best restaurants" according to my mother. This Sunday, drool over the best Boulder has to offer during Downtown Boulder's Taste of Pearl.

Take a bite of Frasca's sampling or sip (or chug) samples from Redstone Meadery at classic Boulder locations including Boulder Bookstore, Starr's Clothing Company, Boulder Arts and Crafts and, yours truly, Pedestrian Shops! We will be hosting one local restaurant and one local winery in our beloved "croc cave" at the back of the store. To find out who we're hosting get your tickets now! This one-of-a-kind Boulder event is for locals and visitors alike, and definitely not to be missed.

Make your reservations for the best of Boulder food, wine, and shopping at Taste of Pearl.

Green: Not Just the Color of Our Storefront

This Earth Day, we want you to know how Pedestrian Shops is trying making a difference in the world. Each and every day we aim to follow the three eco-friendly rules of reduce, reuse, recycle.

1. Reduce

Pedestrian Shops has been harnessing the sun's power since March of 2008. We reduce our energy consumption by using the sun's power to generate nearly 50% of the downtown store's energy needs. Read more about our solar panels and our solar power purchase agreement here.

Later that year, Pedestrian Shops began enforcing a breakthrough closed door policy. This policy helps us keep our carbon footprint to a minimum by closing our doors when their air conditioning or heat is on. Sounds simple doesn't it? Despite its "duh" factor, many retailers believe that keeping doors closed will also keep customers out, and bust out the doorstop even on days of unfavorable weather. Learn more about this policy and its impact on our store here.

2. Reuse

If you've ever ordered from our website, you may have noticed that your Merrell sandals were shipped in a Dansko box, or that your Birkenstocks arrived in an Ugg package. This is because we always always always reuse the shoe boxes that we no longer need our our customers don't wish to keep. It's such a simple way to reduce our dependence on natural resources.

3. Recycle

Every year we are proud to hold our Earth Day Shoe Drive. For a little over a week, we encourage all who visit the store to donate a pair of their gently worn shoes. With a donation, you will receive a 10% discount, but we are happy to accept donations without a purchase. We make sure these shoes get to those in need while you get to recycle shoes that would otherwise sit in a landfill for years to come. Get the details on our Earth Day Shoe Drive.

In addition, a number of brands we carry offer vegan, recycled or biodegradable products such as Simple, Jambu or El Naturalista. Pedestrian Shops is very proud of our efforts to help make the world a better place. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle... and have a happy Earth Day!

Dansko Does it Right

Whether you own a pair of their famous clogs or not, every woman should be aware of the new line that Dansko has created this season.

Dansko is known for their clogs. For those that don't own a pair, they probably fall into their "ugly shoe" category. For those of us in on the Dansko secret, their clogs are a fun way to dress up your feet with the best arch support money can buy. If you're looking forward to the warmer weather (but not the inevitable no-support sandals that come with it), try this on for size: Dansko sandals...Dansko dress sandals...Dansko dress sandals with heels.

Many of the sandals carry the American Podiatric Medical Association seal of acceptance, a big plus for those who are looking to avoid painful footwear. The outsole of the carefully constructed heel also provides shock absorption, flexibility, and energy return with every step. Lined in Dri-lex, moisture is wicked away as you walk, boogie or strut your stuff.

Dress up or down these day-to-night styles like the serena, sigrid, sara, suzy (shown above), sissy, coquette, or clarissa for 2 inches of fabulous comfort.

Don't forget the even higher heels like the rowena or the ripley!
