In honor of teacher appreciation day, all 23 Bear Creek elementary school teachers received free Dansko Clogs at Boulder's Pedestrian Shops on Friday, May 10, 2002. The teachers were the recipients of a $1000 grant from the Jared Polis foundation. Jared Polis is the young man who, in his 20's sold the Blue Mountain Arts e-card business for nearly a billion dollars at the height of the Internet boom. The Dansko Company allowed the Pedestrian Shops to charge $1144.50 of the nearly $3000.00 shopping spree to its co-op advertising budget and Dansko also gave each of the teachers a bright yellow canvas Dansko bag.

The Pedestrian Shops picked up the additional seven hundred dollars. Richard Polk, president of the Pedestrian Shops said: "we really appreciate the generous vendor support we have received for community projects. Rieker shoe sent us $30,000 worth of sample shoes during our most recent Thanksgiving shoe drive and Earth Footwear supported last month's Earth Day shoe drive with a $1500.00 donation."

Polk went on to say, "This was really fun-teachers give us so much for so little. We really wish we could give every one of them a pair of comfortable shoes. We're very lucky to have partners like Dansko that care about the same things we do.
